Mental Health Training

Each term, Harrow's full-time Psychologist addresses a different area of mental health in a series of training opportunities for staff.

The aim of this initiative is to help the adults who care for Harrovians to feel even more confident talking to boys about their everyday mental well-being and to promote greater understanding of the School’s provision in this important area. The training is compulsory for all House Masters, Assistant House Masters and Matrons, but many other members of staff attend as well, enabling a School-wide discussion.

This term, the focus is on anxiety disorders, which affect as many as one in six young people. The training will cover, among other matters, what anxiety is, how we identify the different types of anxiety that can affect boys, how to help boys cope, how to recognise what level of anxiety is 'normal' and how to identify when specialist help is needed.
