Harrovians Reflect on a Summer Volunteering in Kenya

"At the start of the summer in 2015, we went on a charitable trip to Nakuru, Kenya with African Adventures, where we volunteered in some of Africa's most impoverished schools. At a primary school, we taught a few classes, helped cook a meal and washed dishes in the kitchen. At a secondary school, we spent more time teaching classes of students aged 10 to 18, and helped to construct new toilet facilities. Before the project, the school had only two very basic toilets for the 70 pupils, and Harrow's help in building the new bathrooms ensured that the school would not be shut down because of poor sanitation. School expeditions like this not only offer Harrovians an eye-opening and educational experience, but also the opportunity to make a positive difference to deprived communities." Source: a trip participant
