We are made of star stuff

The Rayleigh Lecture is Harrow School's foremost science lecture of the year and we were delighted to welcome Professor Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell.

In a talk titled 'We are made of star stuff', the world-leading Astrophysicist described how the chemical elements we have in our bodies were originally created inside stars and, through explosive star death, came to us.

Professor Bell Burnell made one of the major astronomical discoveries of the 20th century in the identification of pulsars in 1967. She is a fellow of Mansfield College, Oxford, and honorary fellow of Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, and fellow of the Royal Society. She is renowned for her engaging talks.
