Leadership Conference

The inaugural YOU London Leadership Conference, which took place at Harrow School, saw 70 young people from across London take part in activities to develop skills of leadership, civil responsibility and self confidence.

Set up and hosted by Harrow School's Rifle Corps in conjunction with YOU London, the event welcomed participants from uniformed organisations, including police, fire, army, air and navy cadets, St John's Ambulance and the Boys' Brigade.

The youngsters enjoyed practical activities including firefighting on Bill Yard, dealing with 'traffic accidents' on the farm track and climbing and endurance challenges. Delegates heard from the Fleet Commander, Metropolitan Police Commissioner and Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, as well as learning more about the Army Leadership Code.

"This was an inspirational and hugely enjoyable event that welcomed young people from across the capital," said Head Master Alastair Land. "They were united by their commitment to developing themselves as leaders and learning to take their place as a responsible and valuable member of society."
