Academic prize winners

An Harrovian will be representing the UK at the Western-European Olympiad in Informatics which takes place in Italy in June.

Andrew was selected after taking part in the British Informatics Olympiad Final, held over three days at Trinity College Cambridge for the top 15 scorers of Round 1.

We are also delighted that an Harrovian has been chosen as the winner of the 2025 Fitzwilliam College Essay Prize in the Slavonic Studies category. Filip wrote a very impressive essay based on the Polish book The Painted Bird by Jerzy Kosinski on the topic: ‘Destruction of identity is an outcome of war’.

Harrovians have also achieved success in other recent Olympiads. Twenty-three boys took part in the Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad; nine boys earned Merits and a further eight earned Distinctions. Three boys earned gold medals, placing them in the top 20 nationally in their age group.

Three Harrovians were Highly Commended in Round 3 of the Cambridge Biology Challenge, answering the question: ‘Why do we dream, and what might animals dream of?’
