Congratulations to Daniel Zhang who has won the RSPCA Young Photographer Award 2019 12-15 age category. His winning shot, entitled Mid-Air Catch, captured the attention of the judges and he was invited to attend an awards ceremony hosted by TV presenter Chris Packham. Mid-Air Catch was taken in South Africa and the featured bird is a hamerkop.

The competition aims to encourage young people's interest in photography and appreciation and understanding of the animals around them. In 2017, Daniel was selected as runner up in the same age category.
