General Sir Roland Walker

A portrait of General Sir Roland Walker KCB DSO (The Grove 1983³), Chief of the General Staff, was unveiled in the War Memorial Building. Appointed in 2024 to the Army’s highest post, General Sir Roland Walker’s distinguished career includes seven tours of duty and a rapid rise through the Ministry of Defence.

The portrait, commissioned by the British Army and currently on loan to the School, was painted by Fine Artist Alex Chamberlin (Druries 1986³). After leaving Harrow, Alex was sponsored through his Fine Art degree by the British Army and went on to serve as an officer in the Light Dragoons.

Accompanied by his wife Lady Walker, during the visit, General Sir Roland Walker reviewed the Harrow Rifle Corps Guard of Honour. In attendance were also Harrow boys, beaks and Governors.
