Founder's Day

Traditionally, we celebrate Founder's Day on a Sunday as close as possible to 19 February, the date the Queen Elizabeth I Charter was given to local landowning farmer and founder of Harrow School, John Lyon, in 1572.

This year we marked our foundation and identity by playing Harrow football with Old Harrovians, as well as Rackets, Squash, Water Polo and instrumental music competitions. The day began with a service of Commemoration.

Head Master, Alastair Land, said, "Founder's Day helps us think about our identity, what we mean by being Harrow, what we stand for, what we denounce and, in celebrating it with Old Harrovians, to think carefully about what we intend to pass on, our legacy and what will endure."
