In 2021, Costa Rica won the first-ever Earthshot Prize for their conservation efforts which made the country a wonderful location for a group of Harrovians to understand more about conservation, organic farming and sustainable living.

The extensive programme for the two-week trip included lessons in permaculture, regenerative agriculture and healthy land stewardship practices.

The boys also visited a nature reserve and learnt about the black market in rare species. They spent time in the cloud forest, visited a local butterfly garden and took part in a reforestation project, as well as helping at a turtle sanctuary.
