An evening of Shakespeare

As we continue to celebrate the publication of Shakespeare’s first Folio, Harrow School musicians and actors joined forces to offer an evening of Shakespeare, Purcell and Walton.

The Directors of Drama and Music devised an entertainment in the mould of the Jacobean masque with readings from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream alongside side songs and instrumental music played by Harrow School Sinfonia from Purcell’s The Fairy Queen.

This was followed by a suite of music performed by Harrow School Symphony Orchestra drawn from William Walton’s score for Olivier’s film of Henry V, interspersed with more readings from Shakespeare’s play.
