All boys are required to sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test (CPT) between early September and 20 November of Year 6. Please visit the ISEB website for more information on the test and how to register [boy’s name].

If [boy’s name] reaches the required standard in the ISEB Common Pre-Test and we have received a strong supporting reference, we will request a hand-written CV and invite him to the Harrow Test. The Harrow Test takes place at Harrow School, and [boy’s name] will be invited to one of ten sessions between early-January and mid-February of Year 6.

In April or May of Year 6, having completed the Harrow Test, an applicant receives one of the following results:

Please ask them to email the admissions office via admissions@harrowschool.org.uk. Boys invited to sit Academic Scholarship exams will be identified during the admissions process and will only be allowed to sit these exams with the recommendation of their current school.
It will also be necessary for the application to be approved by the relevant Head of Subject at Harrow. Once the Head of Subject for the relevant discipline has approved your son’s initial application for a scholarship, we will email you directly with details regarding the next steps.
All of our scholarship assessments take place during the Spring term (January-March) of Year 8, with the exception of our Sport Scholarship assessments which take place in November of Year 8. Please note that achieving a scholarship carries a 5% fee remission. Scholarships are separate from our means-tested bursaries, which are funds which might allow a boy to come to Harrow if parents are unable to afford the fees. Please see further information on our bursaries here and contact the Access team at accessteam@harrowschool.org.uk for all requests relating to 100% or close to 100% fee support to attend Harrow School.

All places offered at Harrow are conditional on boys sitting Common Entrance (CE) in June of Year 8. While there is no pass mark for CE as such, the results that a boy achieves will be used to determine the initial sets into which he will be placed when he arrives at Harrow. A boy who performs well in the Academic Scholarship examinations is unlikely to be required to sit the CE examinations. Boys preparing to join Harrow are invited to a New Boys Welcome Afternoon in June of Year 8, around which time they receive all the important information about life at Harrow, including further details about uniform and equipment. There will also be an opportunity to meet their House Master and House team once again, along with some current boys from their House and the other new boys who will be joining the House with them in two months’ time.
