On Thursday 29 September, the Rwandan High Commissioner, Her Excellency Yamina Karitanyi addressed the Palmerston (Politics) Society at Harrow School. Her Excellency gave a thought-provoking and insightful address about the danger of genocide ideology, how genocides are not spontaneous and how events in Rwanda in 1994 were carefully and meticulously planned. Her Excellency also spoke about the remarkable path of reconstruction that Rwanda has undergone and how it has achieved such success. She also took various questions from the audience about Rwanda’s past, present and future. She also showed a short video on ‘Kwibuka’, which means ‘remember’ in the Kinyarwanda language and is the official annual commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
