A nail-biting final match v Ardingly on Saturday 19 March pushed the boys to their limit but they remain unbroken.
Firstly, Ardingly forfeited the Foil A team on the day, handing Harrow what ended up to be a crucial lead. The Foil B team then ruthlessly dispatched their opponents 45-8. The Foil C team (all relative beginners) didn't fare quite as well against a more experienced side and lost 31-45. The Épée team then took to the floor and, despite some dogged resistance, couldn't break Ardingly's lead and eventually lost 43-45. This resulted in a draw of 2-2 in blades; thankfully, the comprehensive nature of the Foil B team victory ensured a final Harrow victory, based on points.
The week before, in the Public Schools' Fencing Competition at Crystal Palace, the Club had some things to shout about - one member came in the last 16 for both the Senior Foil and Sabre categories, while a Shell also got down to the last 16 and a third Harrovian came eighth in the Junior Épée.
