Exploring Shakespeare and Dickens

Each year, six of the 12 Houses stage a play and this term saw boys from The Grove and Newlands and Rendalls tread the boards of The Ryan Theatre with The Tempest and A Christmas Carol.

The School’s tradition of performing Shakespeare dates to 1941 when the roof of Speech Room was bombed, inspiring a production of Twelfth Night to be staged open air and partially in the round – playing conditions reminiscent of Shakespeare’s original Globe.
