The proportion of A* grades across all A levels taken by Harrow Upper Sixth boys in 2017 was 32.3%, which sets a new record for the School. There was strength in depth in that year group too, with the 70% A*/A rate being among the best in recent years.
This pleasing public examination performance, coupled with strong written applications and interviews, enabled three quarters of our leavers to take up places at Oxbridge, Ivy League or Russell Group universities. In seven A-level subjects, 100% of candidates achieved an A*/A, while Mathematics – which is our most popular A-level subject – achieved a 49% A* rate and over 85% at A*/A. A total of 21 boys took up places at Oxford (13) and Cambridge (8), with 43% of boys taking up offers at universities ranked in the top 25 globally including Princeton, Cornell and the University of Pennsylvania. Other popular destinations were Bristol (21), Edinburgh (16), Durham (10) and Imperial (10).
