Harrow School

Partnership with local schools

St Anselm's Primary School website is hosted on our server and was constructed by our staff.

We have collaborated on the development of IT systems with Harrow High School, Ninestiles School (Birmingham), St John's Beaumont School and Orley Farm School.

The School supported Harrow High School in its application for specialist Sports College status.

The School manages a major new athletics training centre on a new facility for use by local state schools. This scheme is sponsored by the John Lyon Charity and organised through Harrow High School. We provide the facility, the organisation and some of the coaching. In 2004 and 2005 the School was awarded a Building Bridges Grant to develop athletics with Harrow High School. Each year the Harrow Borough Athletics Championships are held at Harrow. Schools using the track include Harrow High, Whitmore High, Vaughan First and Middle, Canons High, John Lyon School. The following schools are involved in élite athletics coaching: Park High, Sacred Heart, Whitmore High, Bentley Wood, Hatch End, Roxeth First and Middle, Longfield, Pinner Park, Belmont and Marlborough.

We are part of the Changing Towards Excellence initiative, working with state schools in north London (Park High, Canons High, Salvatorian, Sacred Heart, Harrow High) to create further opportunities for staff and pupils in our schools. In 2006 we organised four masterclasses in sculpture, canoeing and fives for pupils from state schools in the consortium. In 2006 we organised a conference for the six local state schools who are starting Sixth Forms in September 2006 and the four who are starting in 2007. In 2006 we hosted two days of workshops for local Year 11 children to help them with the A/A* boundary and the C/D grade boundary.

We support the Cricket Foundation (English Cricket Board) in its work to help state schools develop their cricket. We provide local state schools with access to playing facilities.

We support a number of local schools through our Drama department. Eight state schools took part in the National Shakespeare Schools Festival which we hosted in October 2004. In 2005 we hosted 290 children for a workshop with Opera East.

We offer work experience to pupils from local schools.
