Harrow School

Fees & Charges

An entrance deposit of £1,500 is payable when parents of sons taking the pre-selection tests at age 11 are made an offer of a place and asked to sign letters of acceptance. The place will still be conditional on passing the Common Entrance Examination at age 13 and will be refunded in full if the boy fails CE. From the deposit, £500 is repaid at the end of the boy's first term in the school (i.e. on his second fee account) and the balance of £1,000 will be deducted from the final term's bill.

The school fee for academic year 2007/2008 is £8,815 per term (£26,445 per annum) and includes board, tuition, textbooks, a stationery allowance and laundry. For any subject requiring additional tuition there is an extra charge.

The usual method for payment of fees is by termly direct debit in advance, with full payment being due on or before the first day of term. A late payment charge of £250 is added to all accounts not settled by direct debit but this may be deducted if accounts are settled on or before the first day of term. Overdue accounts are subject to an additional interest charge of 1.5% per month.

A full term's notice must be given of a pupil's leaving the School: in the absence of such notice the full fee for the following term is payable. Notice may be given provisionally.

The School operates a tax-efficient discounted fee payments scheme offering attractive returns. Through this scheme, lump sums can be invested in advance which are designed to cover part or all of the estimated cost of a pupil's fees while at Harrow.
